We are so in love with all the heartfelt details in this rustic, country wedding that's just full of DIY elements, from chalkboard signs built by the couple and hand-lettered by a friend, to wildflower centerpieces grown in the bride's mom's garden. When friends and families chip in to help create the pefect day for a couple, there's really nothing sweeter in our book! (And let's be honest, that pizza looks pretty amazing, too!)
From the bride, Amy:
Mike and I are very outdoor individuals. We go backpacking, do service vacations to work on trails, and I run ultra marathons. So my inspiration for the wedding came from just the outdoors. My mom grew all the wildflowers in her own garden for the table displays, and my dad and brother-in-law helped me cut all the wood pieces from fallen trees in the woods behind their houses. My brother-in-law also made the cupcake stand. We made all the chalkboards and a very dear friend did the art and writing on the boards for us. During our ceremony, we had a tree that will get planted at our first home. Parents from both sides provided soil from our homes growing up and we added that to our tree. And for our favors, Mike has a honey bee farm, so we harvested honey and shared it with all our guests, tagging it “meant to bee.”
Mike and I wanted a very country, outdoor, casual setting for guests, so they could enjoy themselves and relax. I was looking for this same style in my dress. When I found Something White, with their whimsical, romantic dresses, I knew I would find my dress there; and I did! I might not have seen it at first, but after trying on the "Lauryn" and then going home and thinking about it, I realized it was everything I was looking for. It reflected the outdoor, elegant look I wanted; not to mention it looked great!
We could not have completed the perfect wedding without all the friends and family that helped! My favorite memory of the day was how much everyone enjoyed themselves. So many friends and family said it truly reflected who we are as people. Secretly, my dress was my favorite part ;-)
