This is such a fun wedding from such a fun couple! From a working carousel to the choice of processional song, there are so many unique, whimsical and personal touches to this wedding that make it truly special.
From the bride, Alex:
Michael and I first met at a Motown dance party in Nashville. I hit on him with a cheesy pick up line and we've been together ever since. We found ourselves at the zoo one day when we were engaged. It was actually Michael's idea to see if we could get married there, and once we found out about the possibility of having our cocktail hour at the carousel (free rides!), we were hooked. We didn't look at any other locations. We chose the date (10/1/2016) because it's a week after my parents' wedding anniversary and a week before my grandparents' wedding anniversary. Michael is a professional illustrator and did all of the invitations, programs, etc. I walked down the aisle to Manchester Orchestra's version of Escape (The Piña Colada Song) in the least comfortable shoes but most comfortable wedding gown of all time. Having our wedding at the zoo was a blast and very much in line with who we are as a couple. Our home is just down the road, so we have subtle reminders of that night every day.
