With subtle touches of fall decor and an absolutely stunning wedding gown, we love this beautiful, intimate wedding at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick, Ohio.
From the bride, Melanie:
I wanted our wedding to be authentic, a true reflection of who we are and a celebration of the journey that brought us to that day. Nothing was tradition for the sake of tradition, but what we wanted it to be. I didn’t have a theme in mind but wanted the decor and ambiance to complement the beautiful fall setting of Mapleside. We opted for colors of aubergine, navy, ivory and antique golds.
Although in my mind I had pictured an outdoor ceremony, Ohio weather thought differently and it was cold, rainy and windy! We had a spectacular backup plan, though, in the cellar and were married in front of a cozy, lit fireplace amongst 85 of our closest family and friends. I remember shaking with nerves the entire ceremony with a giant smile on my face. Shepard was hit hard by nerves too, barely managing to get out the vowes he wrote. After our ceremony we braved the cold and wind to take some photos outside and boy was it worth it. They came out so beautifully and had the backdrop I had wanted of the autumn leaves. Being introduced at our reception at husband as wife was a crazy feeling, followed by our first dance as newlyweds to “Yours” by Russell Dickerson. The rest of the night was filled with delicious food, lots of dancing and fun in the photobooth.
It was so special to have my grandma and family do the flowers for our day, they were gorgeous and made for a beautiful backdrop. Another one of my favorite touches were the favors. My mom and mother in law made these adorable pumpkin and apple walnut bread loaves for our guests. I can’t thank my family and friends enough for their help in pulling it off! The whole day flew by in such a blur but looking back I honestly wouldn’t have changed one thing, it was our perfect day.
